Spring 2019

Hello Everyone,

As I write this, a late winter storm is blanketing the recently uncovered grass with a fresh coat of snow. The tree bows are heavy, leaning low above our heads. We pull up our collars and pull down our hats against the sharp wind.

Fortunately, it’s already bright and colourful Springtime in my studio! My torch and kiln keep me nice and toasty as I make my glass beads. Dyed and painted wooden shapes and beads lie about me in trays and pieces of ...

Hello Everyone,

Spring has been late in arriving to Kincardine. Still the frost sparkles on the windows, the snow lingers in the valleys and I wear my winter coat when I go out to walk the dog. This morning, though, we were able to walk on the beach for the first time in months. The ice is breaking up and pulling away. The sand is exposed and the treasures washed up during the blustery, stormy winter nights are revealed daily as the hard-packed snow recedes. I found a small piece o...

Hello Everyone,

The sky is a brilliant blue. There is no more snow on the ground here in Kincardine. The trees are casting shadows unique to early spring when their branches are still bare and the sunlight is bold and clear without the green of the leaves to filter it. The air is crisp but the sun is warm. The day is pregnant with the promise of summertime.

My workshop underwent some renovations this winter. We moved it to the other side of the house, upgraded the electrica...

Preparing for Spring

Good Morning Everyone!

It has been quite a mild January so far, but today it is very cold. The cat is a little annoyed with me. He seems to be convinced that I am responsible for this turn in the weather. He steps outside into the swirling snow, turns back and looks up at me as if to say, "What is going on here? Why in the world don't you turn up the heat?" He simply cannot accept the reality of winter. He shakes off his paws and stalks indignantly back into the house heading straight...

Hello Everyone,

As I write this I am surrounded by packed boxes. Next week we are moving to our new house. We are delighted. We have managed to find a home in just the neighbourhood we were hoping for, only a few blocks up from the beach. (If we stand at the end of the driveway, and tilt our heads just so, we can even enjoy a lake view.) The house we have bought is a basic, sturdy 70’s bungalow just ripe for a facelift. I enjoy designing interiors and Brian has had lots of experie...
